Service Description: Map service of historic properties and areas in Columbia, Missouri, as recognized by the City of Columbia and the National Register of Historic Places. Map service is updated annually as the City recognizes new notable and historic properties. Founded in 1821, the City of Columbia, Mo. has a landscape immersed in historical significance. This web map reconstructs the setting for the early architects, business leaders, families and institutions that built Columbia. Included in this web map are the City's "Most Notable" and National Register properties, landmarks and districts. Find out where these areas and buildings are located. Click on the features and follow the links to read why each property is a standing artifact of Columbia’s history. This publication is partially funded by a grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service of the U.S. Department of the Interior. Grant awards do not imply an endorsement of contents by the grantor. This program receives Federal financial assistance for identification and protection of historic properties. Under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, and the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, as amended, the U.S. Department of the Interior prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, disability or age in its federally assisted programs.
